Oral Histories

We have collected a number of oral histories of Milton Abbas residents. These have been saved as WAV files and are available to members, and some are awaiting transcription. However, there are more to collect and we really need help. Not only are there more residents that are here today, but there are many more who have moved away. If you or a relative of yours has ever lived in Milton Abbas please get in touch here.

The second world war was an interesting time in Milton Abbas, with the NAAFI here in 1939  and the names are recorded on the 1939 Register. American troops were billeted here in the woods and along Catherine’s Well. There is some physical evidence of their occupation.

Some residents have written up their memories and these are available to all on the Memories page.
