These land tax records are in the Dorset History Centre and available to view on Ancestry.co.uk. There is almost a complete annual run except 1791 – 1794, and 1796 are missing.
They show the freeholders and leaseholders over the critical time when the Old Town was demolished and a new village built by Joseph Damer, Lord Milton in the 1780’s.
Thanks to the superb work of Samantha Fiander, the transcriptions are now in a searchable digital format which will give us clues on who was in Milton Abbas and who moved out when.
