This monument is in the churchyard of St Mary’s, Winterborne Whitechurch and is listed by Historic England, list number 1324309

The CLAPCOTT family occur in our records. Mrs CLAPCOTT held the Red Lyon in the old town of Milton Abbas in Woodwards 1770 survey.

The entry in opc.dorset reads “1790 30-Jun; Mr. William CLAPCOTT, son of William & Elisabeth CLAPCOTT, formerly NIGHTINGALE; 64; Gradual decline; in a vault under the Farm Seat, S. side of the Church”
